Wow! Life has been busy and hectic! I can't believe it's been over a month since my last post! I managed to get my desks and craft area set up in my Twilight room but that's about as far as it goes. Turns out the portable air unit that we installed to cool the room doesn't really cool the room as well as we had hoped. Needless to say with all that has been going on things have been on hold for my Twilight room. I will work on getting new pics posted by the end of the week.

What a long weekend! It was beautiful though. I'm working on getting things organized in my Twilight room now and it has been difficult. I decided to paint a couple of old storage cabinets black and use those until I can get something better; so those are painted and I'll probably work on organizing those tonite. Once I get all of my things organized and put away I'll go back and make "Twilight accessories" to hold items on my desk as well as add Twilight artwork to my storage things so that everything works together in the room.

Twilight Room Progress

We finally got the flooring down in the Twilight room. Hopefully we can get the quarter round moulding around the baseboards in the next week or two. My Twilight room will also be an office/study for me and the hubs so I will be setting up the desks this week as well as decorating the room and planning my area for my jewelry making and crafts.

I'll post updates as things get done.

Working on Twilight Room

Things are slowly getting back to normal again and the hubs installed the portable air unit in my Twilight room last nite. The goal for tonite is to get the floor primed with a special primer that aids in helping the vinyl tiles stick to the subfloor. Hopefully that will be dry quick and we can start on laying the tiles but if not then we will lay the tiles tomorrow. I'll have some more pics ready later tonite!

Flooring disaster

My Twilight room has had a slight delay. We started putting down the laminate Saturday and after two different attempts and 7 hours later we decided that our subflooring was not level and that we were going to have to find a flooring alternative. Needless to say, after much deliberating we chose to go with black marbelized self stick vinyl tiles. So maybe I can get the subflooring prepared tomorrow and finally move forward. Feel free to take a look at the slideshows for Day 3 and 4.

Twilight Room Update

Day 2 is finally over and the priming is finished so now it's time to paint the walls!

I can't wait till all of the painting is done. I have to say that I am soooo tired of painting and smelling the paint! Once the color is on the walls and dry then I'll be putting a glitter glaze over the color for the sparkle affect. I'm looking forward to getting the flooring done too so I can actually start decorating the room.

Twilight Room

I'm doing my upstairs room in a Twilight theme!! I will be posting slideshows of my work in progress on my blogs so that you can see the transformation. I have 2 slideshows right now, one is Before photos and the other slideshow is Day 1. I primed the walls on day 1 and ran out of primer so day 2 will be finishing the priming.

Decorating

It's Spring! Yay!! I'm excited about getting some projects done inside the house as well as outside the house. We moved into our house about 7 months ago and it is beautiful but it definitely needs some design and decorating. There is absolutely no landscaping outside but we have a nice wrap around porch that I'm excited about utilizing. As for the inside, well it's twice as big as our old house and the huge living / dining area is odd shaped so it's a little overwhelming to say the least. I found a greto geat site to get some designer feedback though so I'm excited about hearing from a designer. Just wanted to share a photo of the necklaces I made for my hubby and son for Valentines! They really liked them! I think they turned out great!

Valentine twist on French toast

I found an awesome recipe today on marthastewart.com! It's a twist on french toast and would be great for a Valentines breakfast!

Ingredients
Serves 4

2 large eggs
2 tablespoons milk
4 large slices challah or Italian Bread, (cut 3/4 inch thick)
4 ounces thin semisweet chocolate bar
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
Confectioners' sugar, for dusting

Directions

In a large, shallow dish, whisk together eggs and milk; set aside.
Form two sandwiches with the bread and chocolate (break chocolate as necessary to cover bread without extending over edges); dip both sides of sandwiches in egg mixture to coat.
Heat butter in a large skillet over medium heat; transfer sandwiches to skillet. Cook, pressing occasionally with a spatula, until golden, 1 to 2 minutes per side. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate. Cut in half, and dust with confectioners'; sugar before serving.

Valentines Day Centerpiece

Need a really cute inexpensive centerpiece idea for your valentines dinner?

Take some clear glass votive candle holders and place some valentine cookie/cake sprinkles (in red white and pink) in the holder and put a white candle in the center. You could also use tiny glass beads instead of sprinkles.

Also, try filling some tall dessert glasses with some small unwrapped Valentine candy (red, pink white) this doubles as a centerpiece and treats for your family or guests.

I finally got another 3 items made to list in my Etsy shop. I had to go out and buy another camera because my old one was ancient and did not take close up shots very well. Anyway needless to say, got the new camera and I love it! I was able to finally get photos of the new jewelry I made and get it listed in my shop.

Now I can look forward to making lots more things because I don't have to stress over trying to get decent photos to post.

Valentine Cones

A perfect way to package some small treats for valentines is by making cones.

Use some pretty valentine scrapbook the large square sheets and roll into a cone and tape with clear tape. Embellish a little more if you choose and then fill with treats. You could even attach a ribbon and hang on your childs door.

Valentine decor

Does anyone decorate for Valentines? I love to decorate so I take advantage of all the little holidays I can. I put up Valentine decor Feb. 1st and I like to leave it up till the end of February.

I put red pink and white decor in little areas throughout the house. I create little candle scapes and put little marbles or rose petals around them. I fill small vases with little floral heart picks. I have a ficus tree that a friend gave me so I will be putting clear lights and little hearts on it. I also had some rose prints that I hung and a couple other Valentines type prints that I hung in the kitchen.

I think decorating for Valentines is just one of the little ways to remind your family that you love them. Kids like to see little decorations around the house for all the holidays whether they are major holidays or not.

I'll try and get a slideshow of my decorations up by Monday.
